5 Reasons To Board Your Cat

July 15, 2019
One great thing about cats is that they are quite independent. While Fido can only be left alone a few hours, Fluffy can be by herself much longer than that. After all, you probably don’t have to worry about rushing home to walk your kitty! (Note: there are cats that are leash trained and expect daily walks, but that’s another topic.) However, your cat isn’t as self-sufficient as she’d like you to think. In fact, we recommend boarding your feline pal when you go away. A Des Moines, IA vet offers lists some reasons to consider boarding Fluffy in this article.

Loneliness

Fluffy may have a reputation for being aloof, but that really isn’t fair. In fact, cats form very strong bonds with their humans, and get quite distressed if they are alone too much. Loneliness and anxiety can quickly cause medical issues. For instance, if your kitty stops eating, she could get very sick!

Kitty Escapades

Cats certainly have a knack for getting into mischief. Fluffy’s shenanigans can definitely be entertaining. If your frisky feline gets into something she shouldn’t while she’s alone, she could be in serious trouble!

Travel Delays

If you’ve ever had to deal with the hassle of a delayed, rerouted, or cancelled flight, well, you have our sympathies. Travelling can go from fun to nightmarish when things don’t go smoothly. No matter how meticulously you’ve planned your trip, there’s no way to ensure that you won’t be delayed by weather or other mishaps. If your kitty is safe and sound in a kennel, you won’t have to worry about trying to find a catsitter at the last minute if you are delayed.

Medical Issues

We strongly recommend boarding cats with health issues. This also applies to anyone with kittens, senior cats, or mobility issues. Fluffy won’t be able to call for help if something happens, so it’s best to just play it safe and leave her in capable hands.

Peace of Mind

While we hope that all of our clients’ travels go smoothly, you can never really prepare for the unexpected. If something were to happen in your home or area while you’re gone, getting someone to check on Fluffy could be tricky! Do you need to schedule boarding for your pet?
