Preventative Care

Why do your pets need preventative care exams?

Regular preventative care exams allow us to evaluate your pet’s general heath, and become familiar with what is normal for your pet.

We will then establish a comprehensive preventative care program including vaccinations and parasite prevention for your pet. Regular preventative care exams help us to detect many health problems before they become serious illnesses. Routine Preventative Testing including blood tests and urinalysis allow our veterinarians a “look inside the body” that cannot be done with a physical exam alone.

How often does my pet need a preventative care exam?

The age of your pet is always very important in determining the wellness plan that will be best for your dog or cat. Our veterinarians also consider size, breed, behavior, and lifestyle when making recommendations for the most comprehensive wellness and preventive care possible. Our goal is to work together to help insure a long healthy life for your dog or cat.

Every year for a dog or cat is equivalent to five to seven human years, so it is important that your pet receives a preventative care exam at least every year, and more often for puppies and kittens or when they enter their senior years.  Many aspects of your pet’s health can change in a short amount of time, so make sure your pet does not miss even one exam!
