Spoil Your Dog Day

July 15, 2018
There’s a special doggy holiday around the corner: Spoil Your Dog Day is August 10th! Our canine buddies are great friends and companions, and definitely deserve some extra TLC on this special occasion. Read on for some great doggy-spoiling tips from a Des Moines, IA vet.

Cold Treats

Who doesn’t love a cold treat on a summer day? Buy or make your pup some doggy ice cream. Or, make Fido some pupsicles by freezing chew sticks and sodium-free broth in waxed-paper cups.

Adventure Time

Take Fido to the doggy park for a puppy play date. Your furry friend may also enjoy exploring a new walking route. If you have an athletic, bouncy pooch, consider taking him on a hike.

Learning

Many dogs really like learning new things. If Fido doesn’t have basic obedience commands mastered, work on these first. Then, teach him some cute tricks!

Toys

Toys are both fun and beneficial for our four-legged pals. Playing keeps Fido active and occupied. Plus, a vigorous play session will tire your furry pal out. This is a great way to keep dogs out of mischief. Buy or make your pooch some fun new playthings, and spend some time playing with him. This may be just as fun for you as it is for your pet!

Grooming

Fido may not love baths, but he does enjoy feeling soft and clean. Take your canine companion to the salon, and have him groomed. Then, you get to snuggle with a clean pup.

Kiddie Pool

August is pretty hot, especially if you have a fur coat on. Get Fido a kiddie pool to splash around in. This can make for some adorable pictures!

Massage

Some pooches enjoy a good massage just as much as people do. A doggy massage is a great gift for older pets, or for pups with musculoskeletal issues.

Bed

There is nothing cuter than seeing a pooch comfy in his bed and dreaming of chasing things. Get Fido a plush new doggy bed!

Cuddles

Dogs love spending time with their humans. After all, you are the apple of your dog’s eye, and the center of his universe. Spend some quiet time with your furry buddy, and offer him lots of belly rubs and ear scritches. Please call us, your Des Moines, IA pet clinic, for all of your dog’s veterinary care needs. We are happy to help!
